What a Riding Stable Usually Offers
The term "riding stable" covers many types of facility. Some offer lessons and arena riding; some offer livery or boarding for privately owned horses; some rent horses for unguided riding; and some — like us — run guided trail rides. Knowing which you need will save you time.
What Our Ranch Offers
- Guided rides only: every ride is led by a guide, from our ranch onto the beach or jungle trails.
- Three published tours: Sunset (2 hours, $75), Jungle (1 hour, $50) and seasonal Waterfall (2 hours, $75).
- Visitors of varied experience: no previous riding is required; tell us your level.
What Our Ranch Does Not Offer
- Formal riding lessons or arena instruction.
- Livery, boarding or stabling for privately owned horses.
- Horse hire for unguided riding.
- Riding camps or multi-day programs.
If you need one of these services, look for a specialist facility and ask about qualifications, safety equipment and horse care. Our pages on riding lessons and riding camps explain what to look for.

What to Expect When You Visit for a Ride
When you arrive at Finca Samudio, your guide confirms your booking and matches you with a horse. After a few practical pointers, the group rides out. The Jungle ride follows rainforest trails beside a river; the Sunset ride heads to Jacó Beach for golden hour; and the Waterfall ride runs in suitable seasons. Rides return to the ranch at the end.
Finding Our Ranch
Finca Samudio, 800 m from Colegio CTP — use the third entrance — Jacó, Puntarenas 61101. It is a short drive from Jacó town, Playa Herradura and Playa Hermosa. Use our Google Maps directions on the contact page. Please book a ride before visiting; the ranch is the meeting point for tours, not a drop-in facility.

Tips for Your Visit
Arrive a little before your ride time. Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you can ride in, and bring water, sunscreen and insect repellent. Leave valuables at your hotel. If you have questions about the horses or the ride, ask us on WhatsApp beforehand or talk to your guide on arrival.
Why We Focus on Guided Rides
Running guided rides lets us concentrate on what visitors to Jacó usually want: a safe, enjoyable way to see the beach and the rainforest on horseback without needing their own horse or riding skills. Keeping our offering to three clearly described tours also means our horses work on familiar routes, our guides know the terrain well and you know exactly what you are booking. If you are an experienced rider looking for something different, message us before booking and describe your experience — we will tell you honestly whether one of our rides is a good fit.
