What Is a Horse Riding Camp?
A riding camp is typically a program lasting several days or weeks, often designed for children or teenagers. Campers usually receive structured riding instruction, help care for horses — grooming, feeding and tacking up — and take part in other activities. Some camps are day camps; others are residential, with campers staying overnight.
Because camps combine childcare, teaching and horse care, they require staff, facilities and arrangements that are very different from a guided tour. That is why we do not describe our rides as camps.
What We Offer Instead in Jacó
Our rides are short, guided experiences designed for visitors:
- Exclusive Jungle Horseback Riding: about one hour on rainforest trails beside a river, $50 per person.
- Sunset Horseback Riding: about two hours on Jacó Beach in the late afternoon, $75 per person.
- Waterfall Horseback Riding: about two hours through the jungle toward a natural waterfall, $75 per person, available seasonally.
A guide leads every ride. Families who love their first ride sometimes book a second one on another day to experience a different landscape — for example the jungle ride early in the trip and the sunset ride later.

What to Expect on a Family Ride
When you arrive at the ranch, your guide confirms the group and asks about each rider's experience. Please tell us your children's ages before booking so we can confirm which tour is right for your family; we would rather check in advance than have anyone disappointed on the day. Once everyone is matched with a horse, the guide leads the group at a comfortable pace and stays with you throughout the ride.
Finding Riding Camps or Programs Elsewhere
If a camp is what you need, look for programs that publish clear information about their instructors, supervision ratios, horse care, insurance and emergency procedures. Ask whether instruction is included, how riders are grouped by ability, and what happens in bad weather. Reading recent independent reviews and speaking with the organizer directly are both sensible steps. We are not affiliated with any camp and cannot recommend specific programs.

Tips for Riding With Children
Dress children in long pants and closed-toe shoes, apply sunscreen before you leave and bring water for everyone. Talk through the ride beforehand so they know a guide will be with them. Morning jungle rides can be cooler and shadier; sunset rides are beautiful but finish around dusk.
